Leatherwork
This is a set of traditional plaited woggles which I made for the 9th Skipton Scout Group where my friend Steve is a leader.

Since fifteen identical items were required I decided to laser cut them. Since the cutter won’t actually go through 3.5mm leather I had to let it cut as far as it could and then finish off the cuts with a knife. I also had it engrave where the holes needed to be punched.
You can see from the first photo above that there are cleaner sections running across; that’s where the masking tape was holding the leather to the cutter bed which I then peeled off.
Because the cutter worked fine through the masking tape, and removing the masking tape also took all of the carbon dust away, I would be tempted to cover the entire piece of leather in masking tape whilst cutting if doing this sort of work in the future.
